- Headroom, backroom, jamb material and the header. Getting the rough opening right is cheaper than shimming a door for the next twenty years.

- We hold the door and install when the site is ready, so a finished door is not sitting in a house full of drywall dust.
- Opener and electrical coordination
- We tell the electrician where the outlet and the wall control need to go before the drywall goes up.

Getting the opening right
The details that cost nothing during framing and a great deal afterward.
Before the drywall
- Confirm headroom for the track and the opener you plan to use
- Confirm backroom, particularly on a shallow or tandem garage
- Use a jamb material that will hold the track fasteners
- Put the ceiling outlet where the opener will actually sit
- Run the wall control wire before the wall closes
- Decide on insulation before the opening is finished
What happens on the visit
- We measure the rough opening and confirm it against the door ordered
- The door is delivered and installed when the site is ready
- Track, springs and opener are set to the finished door weight
- Travel and force limits set, safety reverse tested
- The homeowner gets shown how it works before handover
New construction questions
When should the garage door be ordered?
Early enough that the framing can accommodate it, and with the manufacturer's lead time in hand. Stock doors move quickly, custom sizes and finishes do not.
Do you work directly with builders?
Yes, and with homeowners acting as their own general contractor. One shop handles the measure, the order, the install and any warranty work.
Can you advise on the rough opening before it is framed?
Yes, and that is the cheapest phone call in the project. Headroom, backroom and jamb material are all easier to get right than to correct.
Do you install when the house is still under construction?
We time delivery to the site. A finished door sitting through drywall and paint picks up damage that nobody wants to argue about later.
Who handles the opener wiring?
Your electrician, and we will tell them where the outlet and the wall control need to be before the drywall goes up.
