Garage door repair and maintenance for homes
Springs, cables, rollers, tracks and openers, on doors we installed and doors we did not. Parts ride on the truck, so most repairs finish on the first visit.
What we repair
If it is part of the door or the opener, we work on it.
- Broken torsion and extension springs
- The most common failure and the one nobody should attempt at home. We replace in pairs on a two-spring door and match the spring to the door's actual weight, not the last one that was fitted.
- Snapped cables and doors off track
- Usually the result of a cable letting go on one side. We straighten or replace the track, fit new cables and rebalance rather than forcing the door back on.
- Worn rollers, hinges and bearings
- The noise most people learn to live with. Nylon rollers and fresh bearings quiet a door dramatically and take load off the opener.
- Opener faults
- Stripped gears, failed logic boards, misaligned safety sensors and drifting travel limits. We repair as often as we replace.
- Annual tune-ups
- Balance check with the opener disconnected, lubrication, hardware tightening, roller and cable inspection, and a safety reverse test while you watch.
Signs it is time to call
A door rarely fails without warning. These are the ones worth acting on.
What to watch for
- The door jerks or hesitates partway up
- It will not stay put when you stop it halfway with the opener disconnected
- A grinding or popping noise that was not there last year
- One side sits higher than the other when it closes
- The opener strains and the door creeps rather than lifts
- A gap under the door on one side
What happens on the visit
- The technician tests the door by hand with the opener disconnected
- Springs, cables, drums, track, rollers and opener all get checked
- You get the price on site and approve it before anything comes apart
- The door is rebalanced and the safety reverse tested before we pack up
- You hear what we found, including anything that will need attention later
Repair questions
How much does a spring replacement cost?
Every door is a different size, weight and age, so a number over the phone would be a guess. The estimate is free, you get the price on site before work begins, and it does not change afterward.
Can you repair a door you did not install?
Yes, every major residential brand regardless of who installed it, including Clopay, Amarr, Garaga, Hörmann, Midland and Wayne Dalton, plus older doors where parts are still available.
How long does a typical repair take?
Most spring, cable and roller work is done in a single visit of an hour or two. Openers vary depending on whether it is a gear kit or a replacement.
Is it worth repairing an older door?
Sometimes it is not, and you will hear that from us. If the sections are failing or the door has been patched repeatedly we will price the repair and the replacement both so you can compare.
Do you offer maintenance plans for homes?
An annual tune-up is what most homes need, and it is what keeps a routine visit from becoming an emergency call. Ask when you book.
