Getting service
How fast can you get here?
Most calls see a technician on site within about 2 hours of dispatch, in both the Magic Valley and Eastern Idaho. Winter weather and call volume shift that. You get an honest window on the phone rather than an optimistic one, and a call if it changes.
Do you offer 24-hour emergency service?
Yes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays. A person answers and dispatches a technician. The showroom keeps regular business hours, but the emergency line does not close.
Which number should I call?
Call (208) 734-4657 for the Magic Valley and the Wood River Valley, and (208) 273-1557 for Eastern Idaho. Both reach the shop that sends the truck rather than a call center.
What towns do you cover?
Twenty-one towns from Burley west to the Wood River Valley out of the Kimberly shop, and fourteen from Pocatello north to St. Anthony out of Idaho Falls. If your town is not on the list, call and ask, because we go further than the map suggests.
Can I book online instead of calling?
Yes, and booking online suits repairs, tune-ups, quotes and installation consultations. For an actual emergency, call instead. It is faster, and dispatch can tell you what to do while you wait.
Do you charge to come out and look?
No. Estimates are free, including the site visit, and there is no obligation to have the work done.
Springs, cables and hardware
How long do garage door springs last?
Springs are rated in cycles rather than years. A standard residential spring is usually rated around 10,000 cycles, roughly seven to ten years for an average household and less if the door runs many times a day. High-cycle springs are available for heavy use.
Should I replace both springs if only one broke?
On a two-spring door, we recommend it. Both were installed at the same time and have cycled the same number of times, so the second is usually not far behind. You are free to replace only the broken one, and we will tell you what we would do on our own house.
My door made a bang and now it will not open. What happened?
Almost always a broken torsion spring. The opener cannot lift the door without it, and forcing it will damage the opener. Unplug the opener and call.
Is it safe to adjust a spring myself?
No. A torsion spring holds enough energy to cause serious injury or worse, and it releases all at once. This is the one repair we ask people not to attempt.
The door is crooked or off its track. Can I push it back?
Leave it. A roller has come out or a cable has snapped on one side, and running it again bends the track, which turns a repair into a replacement.
Can you replace just one damaged panel?
Sometimes. It depends on whether the section is still manufactured and whether the color still matches after years of Idaho sun. We price the panel repair and the full replacement both, so you can compare.
How often should a garage door be serviced?
Once a year for a typical home, more often for commercial doors that cycle heavily. An annual visit covers safety inspection, lubrication, balance check and hardware tightening, which is what keeps a routine tune-up from becoming an emergency call.
What does a tune-up actually include?
Balance check with the opener disconnected, lubrication, hardware tightening, roller and cable inspection, opener travel and force limits reset, and a safety reverse test while you watch.
Openers and operators
My opener grinds but the door does not move. What is wrong?
Usually a stripped gear in the opener. The door itself is normally fine, which is why this is often a repair rather than a replacement.
Do you repair openers or only replace them?
We repair as often as we replace. Gear kits, logic boards, sensors, travel limits and remotes are all repairs. On a unit over ten years old we will tell you honestly when a replacement is the better spend.
The door will not close and the light is blinking.
Almost always the safety sensors, sometimes a travel limit. It is often a same-visit fix, and sometimes we can talk you through it on the phone.
Do you service brands you did not install?
Yes, every major residential and commercial brand regardless of who installed it, including LiftMaster, Genie, Chamberlain, Clopay, Amarr, Garaga, Hörmann, Midland and Wayne Dalton, plus older units where parts are still available.
What should I look for in a new opener?
Belt drive if the garage is under a bedroom, battery backup so the door still works in an outage, and smartphone control if you want to check it from the road. We will show you the differences rather than upselling the top of the range.
Can I still open the door if the power is out?
Yes, using the emergency release, but only if the door is balanced. If a spring is broken the door will drop when you pull the cord. Call before you pull it.
New doors and installation
How long does a new door installation take?
A standard single or double residential door is typically a same-day install once the door arrives. The lead time before that depends on the manufacturer and whether the door is stock or custom, and you get that timeline when you order.
What brands do you carry?
Clopay, Amarr, Garaga and Hörmann for residential, plus commercial lines. Carrying the common brands is also why most repairs finish on the first visit instead of waiting on a special order.
Is an insulated door worth it in Idaho?
If the garage is attached, heated, or you use it as a shop, yes. Insulation also makes the door quieter and stiffer, which matters more than most people expect on a wide double door.
Do you haul the old door away?
Yes, removal and disposal are part of the install.
Do you work with builders on new construction?
Yes, residential and commercial, from door selection through framing, track and opener integration, on your build schedule.
Commercial and facilities
Do you service rolling steel and dock equipment?
Yes. Sectional doors, rolling steel, high-cycle springs, commercial operators and dock equipment. If it is an opening in a commercial building we work on it.
Can an emergency call go on a PO?
Yes. You hear the emergency rate on the phone before we dispatch, so it can go on a PO before we arrive, and the repair price is approved on site before work starts.
Our fire door dropped. Can we reset it ourselves?
It needs to be reset properly and drop-tested rather than lifted back into place. Call us and you get the test documented for your file.
Do you leave documentation after a service visit?
Yes. Every commercial visit leaves a written report of what failed, what we did and what we found that will need attention, so facilities and safety have it on file.
Can you set up scheduled maintenance?
Yes. Scheduled inspections catch worn cables, tired springs and drifting travel limits before they take a bay down. See commercial repair and maintenance.
Pricing and scheduling
Why are there no prices on the website?
Every door is a different size, weight and age, so a number posted online before anybody has seen it would be a guess. You get a real price on site, before any work begins, and it does not change afterward.
What counts as after hours?
After 5pm on weekdays and anytime on the weekend. Those calls are quoted at our emergency rate, and you hear that rate on the phone before we dispatch, not when we arrive.
Will you tell me if it can wait until morning?
Yes. If the door is safe where it is, the regular rate tomorrow costs you less, and you will hear that from us.
Do you offer any warranty?
Yes, on parts and labor both. The specifics depend on the part, and the technician will tell you what applies before the work starts.
What are your showroom hours?
Monday to Thursday 8 to 5, Friday 8 to 4, closed Saturday and Sunday. The emergency line is answered at any hour.

Thirty-three years of these calls means we have probably heard your question before, and if the door is broken right now you should be calling rather than reading.
